Love as a Work of Art: Artist Artur Soleckyi on His Muse and Valentine’s Scarf Collection

As February 14 approaches, love becomes our focus. We seek the right words and gifts to capture the essence of intimacy. For the brand KHUSTYNA, this vision came to life through a collaboration with artist Artur Soleckyi. Their silk scarf collection, "INSTINСT," explores love as a sanctuary of trust and freedom.

Artur's minimalist graphics and expressive silhouettes have captivated collectors worldwide, including Sharon Stone. We spoke with Artur about his muse, the nature of relationships, and how love transforms into art.

What inspired this collection? Lately, I’ve focused on themes of the body and the connection between men and women. Much of this is thanks to my wife, who inspires me daily. In our current reality, the warmth and support of a loved one are more vital than ever.

What does "mature love" mean to you? When I was young, the idea of "mature love" felt abstract. Now I realize that things I once overlooked are the most important. For me, it is first about mutual understanding and support, and only then about physicality.

The collection is titled "INSTINСT." Which instinct is key here? The instinct of trust. The ability to open up to another, to be vulnerable, and to accept support.

How personal is this story? It is my personal story, but the language of feelings is universal. When you interact with my work, you bring your own experiences and meanings into it.

Which scarf is your favorite? Each is unique; I truly love them all.

What matters more: physical proximity or emotional connection? I believe you cannot have one without the other.

Is this collection about freedom within a relationship? To me, it’s about the freedom to be: to be yourself, to be together, to be always.

Your work is minimalist. What should the viewer find in that space? Simplicity allows the meaning to be read more clearly. Even with a specific message, a viewer always brings their own soul and history to the piece.

The "Meeting" scarf depicts the tension of reuniting. Is there a personal story behind it? Yes, my first meeting with my wife, Maryna. We met on Tinder and talked for a long time, but work kept us apart. One day, she just bought a ticket and came to me. That meeting changed my life.

What does someone want to say when they gift "INSTINСT"? Everything that cannot be expressed in words.

How has the context of modern Ukraine influenced this work? I work in the here and now. We are living through the hardships of war, but we must never forget love.

How does art help people hold onto each other? Art is a space to take a breath. It offers a sense of shared experience, and in difficult times, that feeling of togetherness helps us hold on.
