In recent years, art has taken on a special significance for Ukrainians. It has become a source of support, inspiration, and strength to keep moving forward. People have started attending exhibitions, concerts, and theatrical performances more often, rediscovering various forms of art. This fascination and search for new emotions are at the heart of KHUSTYNA’s latest collection, “ARTNATION.” The collection is an ode to creativity, which provides strength and unites us in times when we all seek solace in beauty.
The “ARTNATION” collection features five unique designs created in collaboration with artist Olyana Moroz. Each scarf is dedicated to a specific form of art:
• Music
The "Music" scarf is a true symphony of colors and fantastical characters that celebrates the power of music to evoke genuine emotions. Adorned with hand-drawn animals playing musical instruments in a naïve art style, it captures the pure and unfiltered feelings we experience through music.
Each animal represents different musical styles and personalities, reflecting the diversity of music and the emotions. This scarf is like a melody that brings joy and lightness to whoever wears it.
• Poetry
The "Poetry" scarf captures fleeting moments that teach us to find beauty in every day, even with its challenges.
“What did we have?
Love and summer.
Love and summer without worries.
That’s all.
But that’s not too little for two.”
These verses by Lina Kostenko, featured on the scarf, remind us of the importance of living in the present.
Artist Olyana Moroz describes the design as a “memory journal” that preserves cherished moments. Birds and flowers in art style come to life on the silk canvas, embodying the lightness of poetic energy.
• Dance
The "Dance" scarf is a kaleidoscope of movement and emotion.
Paint textures create dynamic visuals, while a mix of blue, orange, and yellow hues symbolizes the contrast between calmness and the vitality of dance. Silhouettes of dancers, seemingly dissolving into their movements, evoke a sense of freedom and connection with rhythm.
This design celebrates the expressive beauty of dance, from graceful ballet to vibrant disco and folk movements.
• Architecture
The "Architecture" scarf pays tribute to the stories preserved in urban landscapes.
Inspired by the works of Horodetskyi and Ukrainian Baroque, this design brings together eras and styles, showcasing the multifaceted nature of Ukrainian architecture.
“Some structures are drawn in ink, others created digitally, representing the coexistence of well-preserved heritage and monuments on the brink of ruin,” shares Olyana Moroz.
Recognizable landmarks on the scarf serve as a metaphor for timelessness, allowing wearers to immerse themselves in the ever-relevant beauty of architectural forms.
• Theater
The "Theater" scarf honors the Ukrainian stage, a cornerstone of the nation's cultural life.
Dramatic masks, red velvet chairs, and iconic props adorn the design, reflecting the magic of theatrical art. The rich burgundy color mirrors the velvet curtains of grand theaters.
A men's version, designed as a pocket square in deep navy blue, captures the serene mystery of a starlit night.
The Face of the Collection
Ukrainian actress Iryna Hryshchenko, a star of the Theater on Podil, is the face of the “ARTNATION” collection. Her role as Mrs. Stone in the play “Snow in April” profoundly resonated with the KHUSTYNA team.
“Being an actress has always been my sole dream. It’s not just a profession but a calling that fills my days with purpose,” says Iryna.
After the first performance following the full-scale invasion, Iryna understood the deep need for art among the audience. “This collaboration with KHUSTYNA is our way of saying: we will live, create, and celebrate life here and now. It’s our gratitude to art for giving us this chance,” she adds.
The “ARTNATION” collection represents women as multifaceted and unpredictable as art itself—delicate yet brave, simple yet complex, free in their expressions. Each scarf reminds us that art is always close, offering beauty and answers to the profound questions we seek in life.
Exclusively showcased at KHUSTYNA’s festive corner on the 3rd floor of TSUM, the “ARTNATION” collection invites visitors to explore and find a scarf that becomes part of their personal story.
